Meet the 2025 Star Tribune All-Minnesota high school baseball team

Every corner of the state contributed to the list of the best 25 players in the state.

The baseball state tournament starts Wednesday in three different cities — St. Paul, St. Cloud and Jordan — so it’s time to introduce you to Minnesota’s best from the 2025 season. The Minnesota Star Tribune’s All-Minnesota team includes 25 players, selected based on individual success and input from coaches. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

  • Joe Anderson

    Simley

    Senior — SS/pitcher

    The MVP of the Metro East Conference enters the state tournament hitting .483 with an OPS of 1.223. “He impacts the game at the plate and in the field, but what is most impressive is the passion he plays with,” Spartans head Jon Heiderscheit said. College plan: St. Mary’s

  • Riley Asmus

    Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta

    Junior — SS/pitcher

    Asmus hit .494 with five home runs, 42 RBI and 41 runs scored for the 22-win Tigers. He also went 7-0 on the mound with one save and a 1.60 ERA. “Where he truly shines is his baseball IQ and his defensive capabilities,” Tigers coach Kirby Sayles said. College plan: Creighton

  • Noah Asuma

    Cherry

    Junior — SS/pitcher

    Asuma batted .375 with 33 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. He also picked up two wins on the mound with a 6-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. “Noah hits for contact as well as power and is incredibly smooth on the left side of the infield,” Cherry coach Brian Kemp said. College plan: Minnesota

  • Matthew Berkland

    Wayzata

    Junior — Catcher/third base

    Trojans coach Bobby DeWitt isn’t afraid to use Berkland anywhere on the field. “He is a smart hitter and a tough out, which is why he has been at the top of our lineup since he was a freshman,” DeWitt said. He batted .357 with 19 RBI and 18 runs scored. College plan: uncommitted

  • Max Berrisford

    Duluth Marshall

    Senior — Catcher/pitcher/SS

    Hilltoppers coach Nick Garramone calls Berrisford “a natural leader and a very special talent.” He is hitting .371 and is 4-1 on the mound with a 1.48 ERA entering the state tournament. “His quiet work ethic is off the charts, as is his baseball IQ,” Garramone said. College plan: St. Thomas

  • Patrick Binnebose

    Rockford

    Senior — Pitcher/1B/3B/SS

    Binnebose has excelled as the Rockets’ No. 1 pitcher since being thrust into that role because of a teammate’s injury. He went 4-2 with a 0.59 ERA while striking out 85 in 47⅓ innings. He also hit .462 with four home runs and 32 RBI. College plan: Iowa Central Community College

  • Nick Bowron

    Rochester Lourdes

    Senior — Catcher

    Bowron holds school career records for hits (101), home runs (20), RBI (87) and walks (82). He batted .470 in 2025 with an incredible 1.764 OPS thanks to 12 home runs. “Nick is a great player with all five tools,” Eagles coach Dave Jenson said. College plan: Creighton

  • Blake Eckerle

    White Bear Lake

    Senior — Catcher/pitcher

    Eckerle hit .455 and had a perfect fielding percentage. “His skill set can allow him to play any position on the field, and automatically makes him one of the best players in the state at that specific position,” Bears coach Ryan FitzPatrick said. College plan: Utah

  • Noah Filer

    Wayzata

    Senior — Pitcher

    Filer picked up where he left off last year, registering his second consecutive unbeaten season. He went 7-0 with a 1.04 ERA and a 7-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. “Noah never gets rattled and is able to compete at a high level at all times,” DeWitt said. College plan: Purdue

  • Cooper Fiskewold

    St. Francis

    Senior — Outfield/pitcher

    Fiskewold “is an extra-base hit waiting to happen,” Saints coach Luke Scardigli said. A .455 hitter, he had 19 extra-base hits this season, including seven home runs. “He has tremendous power to all fields,” Scardigli said. Fiskewold also went 4-1 on the mound. College plan: Nebraska Omaha

  • Davis Fleming

    Cretin-Derham Hall

    Junior — Outfield/1B/pitcher

    Fleming hits for average and power while also being outstanding in the field. He hit .444 with five home runs, 33 RBI and 25 runs scored. “The runs he has accounted for this year has just been incredible,” Raiders coach Buzz Hannahan said. College plan: Minnesota

  • Andrew Gette

    Mounds View

    Junior — Pitcher/second base

    Gette is the Minnesota Star Tribune’s All-Minnesota Player of the Year. “He has done nothing short of exceed all hopes we had for him in his development,” Mustangs coach Nik Anderson said. “It’s been a treat to watch him grow.” College plan: Miami

  • Carter Gwost

    Little Falls

    Senior — 1B/outfield/pitcher

    Gwost hit .444 with nine home runs and was 4-0 on the mound with a 0.00 ERA. “It has been exciting watching the attention he has received this year, being rewarded for the years of hard work he has put into perfecting his skills,” Flyers coach Chad Kaddatz said. College plan: Nebraska

  • Carson Hart

    Mankato East

    Junior — Outfield

    Hart is a superb leadoff hitter, batting .359 with an on-base percentage of .568 heading into the state tournament. He has scored 29 runs, thanks to 24 walks and 23 stolen bases. “He takes excellent at-bats and has demonstrated true gap power,” Cougars coach Micah Degner said. College plan: uncommitted

  • Sam Haugen

    Esko

    Senior — Outfield/pitcher

    Haugen is fast, has a strong arm and hits for average and power. He wound up hitting .512 with five home runs, 40 RBI and 30 runs scored. He had also swiped 12 bases, and he picked up two wins on the mound in limited action. College plan: Minnesota State Mankato

  • Nick Johnson

    Shakopee

    Senior — Pitcher/outfield

    A lefthander, Johnson went 5-0 with a 1.28 ERA and a 6-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He also hit a homer. “Nick has had an outstanding three-year pitching career which was done with precision and poise on the mound,” Sabers coach Eric Schmitz said. College plan: Minnesota State Mankato

  • Patrick Karlen

    Two Rivers

    Junior — Catcher

    The leadoff hitter batted .400 with an OBP of .604. A four-year starter, Karlen opened two games with home runs. “He is an elite leader, offensive ignitor and defensive specialist,” Two Rivers coach Greg Fehrman said. College plan: Southern Illinois Edwardsville

  • John Henry Kohorst

    Cretin-Derham Hall

    Senior — Pitcher/outfield

    Kohorst is the leader of the 20-win Raiders, batting .426 with an OBP of .523. “He is always a tough out,” Raiders coach Buzz Hannahan said. As a pitcher he went 2-0 with two saves and a 1.50 ERA. “He is an incredible baseball talent,” Hannahan said. College plan: Iowa

  • Owen Marsolek

    Duluth Marshall

    Senior — Pitcher/outfield/1B

    A lefthander, Marsolek owns an 8-1 record on the mound with a 1.03 ERA while striking out 123 in 67⅔ innings heading into the state tournament. He is also hitting .478 with an OBP of .586. “His drive to be the best and compete level are off the charts,” Garramone said. College plan: Western Kentucky

  • Jaeger Solis

    Prior Lake

    Senior — Catcher

    “Jaeger was the heartbeat of our team offensively and defensively,” Lakers coach Zach Hendrikson said. “Defensively, he is one of the best in the state without a doubt.” He was also solid offensively, hitting .400 with four home runs. College plan: John A. Logan College

  • Owen Strey

    Chaska

    Junior — SS/pitcher

    The Hawks’ leadoff hitter batted .432 with six home runs, scored 29 runs and stole 15 bases. Strey also went 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA as a relief pitcher. “He competes every day and makes everyone better,” Chaska coach Craig Baumann said. College plan: uncommitted

  • Nick Terhaar

    Proctor

    Senior — Pitcher/outfield

    Terhaar went 5-2 with one save and a 0.69 ERA while striking out 108 in 50⅔ innings while also belting 12 home runs and driving in 40 runs. “Nick was been dominant all season long,” Rails coach Adam Shykes said. College plan: Iowa

  • Seth Thompson

    Northfield

    Senior — SS/pitcher

    A slick fielder, Thompson also provides plenty of offense. He hit .400 with six home runs and 29 RBI. “He can impact a game in so many ways with his ability to hit for both average and power,” Raiders coach Josh Spitzack said. He also went 4-0 on the mound. College plan: Creighton

  • Carson Timm

    Blaine

    Senior — Pitcher/outfield/1B

    Timm was the key to the Bengals’ 22-win season and Northwest Suburban Conference crown. He went 6-1 with a 1.65 ERA on the mound while hitting .342. “Carson was steady for us all season,” Blaine coach Ted Erickson said. College plan: Gustavus Adolphus

  • Hunter VaDeer

    Lyle-Pacelli

    Senior — Outfield/pitcher

    He’s a “generational talent,” Athletics coach Brock Meyer said. VaDeer hit .418 with nine home runs and 43 RBI and went 5-2 on the mound with a 0.86 ERA while striking out 111 in 49 innings. He is also the school’s valedictorian with a 4.2 GPA. College plan: Creighton
