Small-class volleyball? Yes. High-class volleyball? That, too.

To see how those two categories can fit together, check in Monday evening for the Strib Varsity livestream of Chatfield’s match at Winona Cotter. Access a replay by clicking here.

Cotter is ranked second in Class 2A by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association, and Winona Cotter is ranked seventh.

Each team will send out well-regarded college recruits. Chatfield setter Harper Goldsmith, a member of the Strib Varsity preseason Dream team, is ranked sixth by Prep Dig among Minnesota’s Class of 2026 prospects and is headed to Augustana. Chatfield’s Cora Bicknese, a defensive specialist and libero, is ranked fourth in the 2027 class and has committed to Michigan State.

Winona Cotter leans on Savy Repinski, a setter ranked 15th by Prep Dig in the Class of 2026 who has committed to Missouri-Kansas City.

Or just watch because of the rivalry. Chatfield and Cotter are members of the Three Rivers Conference and play in the same section. Matters are a smidge out of balance these days. Cotter last defeated Chatfield in 2019 and lost to the Gophers twice last season, the second coming in the Section 1 final.

Each team has played already this season. Chatfield lost Saturday to Southwest Christian, ranked third in Class 2A, and Cotter opened with a victory Saturday over Crosby-Ironton.
