Meet the 2025 Star Tribune All-Minnesota high school softball team

The Star Tribune chose 25 athletes, and because it’s softball, more than half of them are pitchers.

With the high school softball state tournament being played this week at Caswell Park in North Mankato and culminating with championships held at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium at the University of Minnesota, here’s a look at the best softball players in Minnesota — the 2025 All-Minnesota Team.

The Minnesota Star Tribune chose 25 players for the All-Minnesota Team, with selections based on individual success and input from coaches from various conferences and classes. Players are listed in alphabetical order, with statistics through section semifinals.

Pitchers

  • Mariah Anderson

    United South Central

    Junior

    Also a finalist for the All-Minnesota Player of the Year, Anderson has put up stats that wow. In the circle, she’s 22-0 with a 0.15 ERA and 338 strikeouts, tops in the state. At the plate, she’s hitting .582 with 46 hits, with at least one hit in every game this regular season. College: undecided.

  • Madelyn Anthony

    North St. Paul

    Senior

    Anthony came back this season with something to prove after missing all of 2024 with a torn ACL. She looked like she didn’t miss a day at the plate. Toward the end of the regular season, Anthony was hitting .500 and had registered five home runs and 32 RBI, striking out just seven times in the regular season. She was also 10-3 as a pitcher, striking out 95, and also played on the infield. College: St. Benedict.

  • Avery Augedahl

    Caledonia

    Sophomore

    Much of the credit for the Warriors’ exceptional season goes to Augedahl, who took over the role of staff ace and responded with a 19-5 record, 0.81 ERA, four shutouts and 257 strikeouts. Also a standout at the plate, she’s hitting .422 with 36 RBI, 35 hits and four home runs. College: undecided.

  • Jorey Fry

    Rosemount

    Senior

    She throws myriad spinning pitches that keep opponents off balance. In her second season as the No. 1 arm, she’s kept the Irish among the top teams in Class 4A, compiling a 16-4 record with a 1.11 ERA and 142 strikeouts. College: Minnesota State Mankato.

  • Ella Meyer

    Edina

    Junior

    Meyer helped elevate the Hornets to the No. 1 seed in Class 4A, Section 6. Crafty on the rubber, she prefers to outthink opposing hitters rather than overpower them, hitting her spots with an array of pitches with heavy spin. She went 10-5 with a 1.33 ERA and 132 strikeouts in the regular season and often helped her own cause at the plate, hitting .507. College: undecided.

  • Avery Muellner

    Forest Lake

    Junior

    After four seasons of splitting pitching duties, Muellner has seized the role of ace for the Rangers, who throughout the season ranked No. 1 in the Star Tribune’s Minnesota Top 25. Her pitches have good spin, helping her compile a 16-1 record, 0.869 ERA and 0.766 WHIP with 138 strikeouts. She’s a .294 hitter with one home run and 15 RBI. College: St. Thomas.

  • Kendal Pillar

    Rush City

    Junior

    Pillar has kept statisticians busy all season. She’s hitting .633 with 50 hits and 51 runs, both of which lead the state, along with six home runs. In the circle, she has posted a 14-4 record with a 0.56 ERA and 219 strikeouts while issuing just 21 walks. College: Bethany Lutheran.

  • Kaitlyn Pink

    Delano

    Senior

    A four-year starter and second-year captain, Pink posted a 10-1 record with one save and a 1.07 ERA and held opponents to a sub-.200 batting average as the Tigers, ranked one of the top 10 teams in Minnesota by the Star Tribune, compiled a 16-2 regular-season record. She hit .449 with 20 RBI. College: St. Benedict.

  • Carter Raymond

    Randolph

    Senior

    The Player of the Year carried heavy expectations and has more than lived up to them. After an award-packed junior season in which she led the Rockets to the Class 2A state title, she’s put up tremendous numbers on the rubber: 22-0, 0.45 ERA and 286 strikeouts, topping 1,000 for her career. Hitting, Raymond has a .442 average with 22 RBI. College: Minnesota.

  • Kayla Schweich

    Farmington

    Junior

    She was the top pitcher for the Tigers, ranked a top five team in the state by the Star Tribune, in Class 4A, posting a 13-2 record and a 0.78 ERA. She keeps hitters off balance with a variety of pitches. College: St. Cloud State.

  • Kylinn Stangl

    Mankato East

    Senior

    A finalist for Player of the Year, the Gophers signee is among the top pitchers in the state. The two-time defending Class 3A champion Cougars go as Stangl goes. A vocal leader, she’s dominant in the circle (17-4, 1.52 ERA, 183 strikeouts) and at the plate, where she’s hitting .433 with a state-leading 10 home runs. College: Minnesota.

  • Emmie Sylvia-Cochran

    Blaine

    Senior

    On May 5, Sylvia-Cochran’s amazing effort was one of the state’s best-pitched games this season. She threw a 1-0, 12-inning victory over Brainerd, setting a state record with 26 strikeouts. After missing much of April, she caught fire in May, going 12-1 with a save. She has a 1.31 ERA and 175 strikeouts. College: Minnesota Duluth.

  • Mya Tautges

    Brainerd

    Senior

    The 6-1 all-around athlete is among the hardest throwers in the state, her fastball reaching 67 mph. She’s 10-1 with a 0.30 ERA and 212 strikeouts. Hitting .471 with nine home runs and a 1.000 slugging percentage. College: St. Thomas.

Fielders

  • Susie Tollefson

    Chanhassen

    Senior — Third Base

    Tollefson has long been considered one of the state’s top all-around players. She’s a whiz with the glove and is hitting .443 with three home runs and 14 RBI. She also owns the team record for career stolen bases. College: Augustana (S.D.).

  • Reese Reimler

    Champlin Park

    Senior — Third Base

    The most dangerous hitter in the potent Rebels lineup, Reimler is hitting .460 with 20 RBI and has a fielding percentage of .934. College: Colorado State-Pueblo.

  • Ava Parent

    Champlin Park

    Senior — Center Field

    Rebels coach Bryan Woodley calls Parent “the best defensive center fielder in the state.” Quick and sure-handed, she covers a lot of territory in the outfield. Hitting .312 with 17 RBI and nine stolen bases. College: Wisconsin.

  • Lila Johannsen

    Farmington

    Junior — Catcher

    A steady backstop with a strong arm and high-end pop time, she leads the Tigers in hitting with a .519 batting average and 38 RBI. College: Wisconsin.

  • Karianne Drury

    Forest Lake

    Junior — Catcher

    A leader behind the plate who controls the game, Drury has a strong, quick arm and a high softball IQ. She’s batting .396 with a team-leading 17 RBI. College: Wisconsin.

  • Maddy Freking

    Anoka

    Senior — Shortstop

    A vacuum cleaner with the glove, Freking committed just one error while manning the most demanding position in the infield. She regularly squares up the ball at the plate. By the middle of the regular season, Freking was hitting .500 and had registered three home runs and 19 RBI. College: St. Thomas.

  • Eva Taybior

    St. Louis Park

    Senior — Outfield

    A fleet lefthanded hitter, she is versatile with the bat, getting on base via the bunt, slap-hitting or driving the ball. She hit .459 with two home runs, 23 RBI and eight stolen bases in the regular season. College: Augustana.

  • Makenna Dornack

    Chatfield

    Sophomore — C/SS

    A versatile fielder who can capably play catcher and shortstop, she’s a force at the plate. She hit .455 with a team-leading five home runs, 32 RBI and a whopping .909 slugging percentage in the regular season. College: undecided.

  • Emily Hacker

    Mankato East

    Junior — Shortstop

    A leader from the middle of the infield, she sets the tone for a Cougars defense that has a .957 fielding percentage. As the table-setter for the offense, she leads the team in base hits with 35 and batting average at .473. College: undecided.

  • Maya Schroeder

    Stillwater

    Senior — Center Field

    An All-Metro selection a year ago, Schroeder is the thoroughbred who drives the Ponies’ success. As the team’s leadoff hitter, she batted .397 with a .450 on-base percentage entering the section tournament, and also scored 21 runs and stole 15 bases. College: Colorado Christian.

  • Nettie Parsons

    Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial

    Junior — P/2B

    Hailing from a family of softball enthusiasts, Parsons is pulling double duty as a fielder and a pitcher. Nearing the end of the regular season, she owned a 10-1 record with a 0.91 ERA and 107 strikeouts while hitting .474 with an on-base-plus-slugging number of 1.291. College: undecided.

  • Addison Wallschlaeger

    Spectrum

    Junior — LF/P

    Wallschlaeger has been a key component in Spectrum’s remarkable undefeated, unscored-upon season to date. She’s 14-0 with 168 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA while posting a soaring .672 batting average with five home runs, 41 hits and 31 RBI. College: Minnesota Duluth.
