High school sports programs require time commitments from students, parents and coaches. They also require funding to cover costs for equipment and uniforms, travel and end-of-the-year banquets. To help cover the financial gap, many programs launch fundraisers throughout the year.
Just the other day I was asked by a high school football player if I was interested in purchasing a community coupon card. That sale reminded me of wrapping paper. My youth soccer and softball programs in Stillwater sold rolls annually. In fact, my latest birthday present from my mother came wrapped in said wrapping paper — still stockpiled over a decade later.
Then a coworker told me about their team’s mattress sale … and I was intrigued.
