In every regular-season game between the two teams between 2015 and 2024, Caledonia had gotten the better of Triton. That changed last season, when the Cobras won 21-20.

They meet again Friday night, with Triton visiting Caledonia for a game streaming live on Strib Varsity. Watch it here at 7 p.m.

Caledonia has one of the top sophomores in the state in Cooper Allen, and the Warriors will also look to junior wide receiver Coby Hammell in a game that will impact section seeding.

Pierce Petersohn, who chose Penn State over the Gophers, injured his shoulder during Triton’s season-opening loss to Goodhue. The Cobras bounced back to beat Rushford-Peterson 21-6 in Week 2.

Both schools have a deep history in the state tournament. Triton’s 11 appearances include 2023 and 2024, and it has won three championships. Caledonia has made state 16 times, most recently in 2023, and won 11 titles, including five in a row from 2015 to 2019.
