If the past three seasons are any indication, Friday night could offer a preview of a section tournament matchup.

The Holy Angels football team will host Benilde-St. Margaret’s, and the game will be streamed live on stribvarsity.com. Find the game here at 7 p.m. Friday.

The two teams have faced off in the Class 4A, Section 5 championship game each of the past three years. Holy Angels secured the state championship berth in 2022 and 2024, and Benilde-St. Margaret’s won in 2023.

Holy Angels has won the two teams’ past five regular-season games, but the Stars are without all-state linebacker Damian Devine, now a freshman at North Dakota State.

Raising the stakes: Both teams are looking for their first win after opening the football season with a loss at home.

The Red Knights lost 25-6 on Thursday to Stewartville, a team that’s back in Class 4A after winning back-to-back Class 3A state titles. Holy Angels fell 42-12 on Friday to Byron, which reached the state tournament in 2023 and 2024.
