Maple Grove continued its undefeated run with a 28-14 come-from-behind victory over Eden Prairie in the Crimson’s home opener Friday night.

Coming off a 13-0 season last year, the win extended the defending Class 6A state champion’s winning streak to 15.

After scoreless first quarter, Eden Prairie took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter. The the Crimson answered with nine seconds left to tie it 7-7 before halftime.

“To be honest, we’re not accustomed to playing from behind. But at the same point, I trust these guys and they stay true to who we are,” Crimson head coach Adam Spurrell said.

“That last drive in the first half, our O-Line and our tailback put our team on our back,” Maple Grove quarterback Kaden Harney said. “They drove us down the entire field and found a way to get in the end zone, and that gave us some momentum going into halftime,”

The Crimson converted that momentum into two third-quarter touchdowns for a 21-7 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles narrowed the lead to 21-14, but Harney sealed the win with a game-clinching 57-yard touchdown late in the quarter.
