Wayzata and St. Paul Academy are early favorites to win state titles in boys tennis this season, according to the first rankings released March 30.

The Trojans defeated Edina, the second-ranked team to begin the season, in the 2025 Class 2A title match. Mounds View defeated Rochester Mayo in the third-place match to claim the No. 3 spot. The Spartans and No. 4. Eden Prairie round out the top five after winning the consolation championship a year ago.

In the Class 1A rankings, Rock Ridge is No. 2 and Pine City, which did not advance to the state tournament last season, is No. 3. Breck, which finished third last season, came in at No. 4. Rochester Lourdes, who fell to Breck in the third-place match, rounds out the top five.

The defending individual champions return as the favorites as well.

Mounds View senior Soren Swenson and St. Paul Academy junior Winston Arvidson are the No. 1 individuals in Class 2A and Class 1A, respectively.

Tarun Gopalakrishnan of Blake, Ethan Turunen of Wayzata, Brody Barbeau of Minnetonka and Santiago Sanchez of Edina round out the top five of Class 2A.

Evan Ritter of Rochester Lourdes, Joshua Cook of Minnehaha Academy, Wyatt Helberg of North Branch and Joe Sampson of Mora round out the top five of Class 1A.
