The NCAA’s regular signing period began Wednesday, and dozens of high school senior athletes across Minnesota will make verbal offers from Division I and Division II colleges official by signing financial and athletic aid documents.

It’s the 50th anniversary of the first championship season. There’s a catch: 1974-75 had two state tournaments. A year later, the MSHSL became involved, setting up another anniversary.
