Wayzata leaps over Hopkins, Rosemount to claim No. 1 ranking in Class 4A

After winning four games last week, Wayzata moved into the No. 1 spot in the Class 4A top 10 poll released by the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association on Jan. 25.

Wayzata jumped over Hopkins and Rosemount to claim the top spot. Hopkins and Rosemount dropped one spot each to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

The other notable movement in the top 10 came in Class 3A. Hill-Murray dropped from No. 2 to No. 5, Stewartville moved from No. 3 to No. 2, Benilde-St. Margaret’s changed from No. 4 to No. 3 and Marshall went from No. 6 to No. 4.

The only other team to change two spots or more was Central Minnesota Christian, which moved from No. 10 in Class 1A to a tie for No. 8 with Hayfield.

Three teams joined the 4A top 10: Monticello at No. 9 and Prior Lake and Forest Lake in a tie for No. 10.
