This is not your typical Top 25 rankings. This week, I’m tweaking it a bit, ranking the state’s top 25 teams that have not yet been eliminated in the postseason playoffs.

Many of the previous ranked teams remain, but only the teams still alive in the playoffs are eligible for this week’s Minnesota 25.

1. Maple Grove (10-0)

Previous rank: 1. Last: def. East Ridge 55-18

“Our offense is a high-powered machine right now,” Maple Grove coach Adam Spurrell told the Minnesota Star Tribune.

2. Centennial (9-1)

Previous rank: 2. Last: def. Shakopee 28-3

5. Minnetonka (8-2)

A 34-yard fourth-quarter scoring run by Caleb Francois helped the Skippers avoid an upset.

6. Eden Prairie (8-2)

Previous rank: 7. Last: def. Champlin Park 21-16

Two TDs by Gavin Walden — one on offense, one on defense — highlights Mike Grant’s winning philosophy: Let your playmakers make plays.

7. Chanhassen (5A, 9-1)

Previous rank: 10. Last: def. Chaska 14-0

The Storm defense played its most complete game of the season.

8. Moorhead (6-4)

Moorhead’s high-scoring machine plays a game many opponents simply cannot match.

9. Spring Lake Park (5A, 10-0)

Previous rank: 12. Last: def. Buffalo 45-16

RB Lamari Brown’s 225 yards and five TDs rushing more than made up for the absence of backfield mate Marqueal Mitchell.

10. Jackson County Central (2A, 10-0)

Previous rank: 13. Last: def. Le Sueur-Henderson 30-6

Roman Voss can play a little defense, too. The Gophers commitment’s one-handed pick-six spurred the Huskies’ victory.

QB Talan Witt is matching all that 2024 QB Chase Thompson did a year ago.

12. Minneota (1A, 10-0)

Previous rank: 15. Last: def. Dawson-Boyd 42-16

At this time of year, you can’t win if you can’t run. The Vikings defense held Dawson-Boyd to only 23 total yards on the ground.

13. Marshall (4A, 9-0)

Previous rank: 16. Last: def. Rocori 22-7

After Byron’s loss, the No. 2-ranked Tigers are the top team remaining in Class 4A.

Friday’s result was the first time all season the Cardinals surrendered two touchdowns in a single game.

After a season of taking a some lumps, the Knights dished out a few out on Friday.
