The first full week of the postseason led to Moorhead’s quick rise and not much else.
Media members from across the state spent weeks refining the top 10s. As the playoffs begin, here is their last batch of the season.
Ahead of the final games of the regular season, Centennial and Lakeville South moved into the upper echelon in Class 6A.
As the regular season nears its Wednesday end, a few unforeseen upsets and close games Friday jumbled Jim Paulsen’s list.
Class 6A’s Maple Grove stands alone as a unanimous top pick in the seven football classes.
Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Forest Lake and Lakeville South remain in, holding the top four spots. Also important is who’s out: Chaska and Fergus Falls exited after losing last week.
Serious shuffling came to the seven top-10s, but No. 1 teams stood strong.
The list begins this week with five undefeated teams still left out — Kasson-Mantorville, Minneapolis North, North Branch, Waseca and Albert Lea — but angling for more attention.
No. 8 Andover pulled out a 62-61 victory over Anoka when it scored with 12 seconds to play. Ranked teams Eden Prairie, Moorhead, Chaska, Hermantown and Mankato East lost.
Lots of movement came to Class 5A, but the top teams in the other classes stayed put.
