The first full week of the postseason led to Moorhead’s quick move and not much else.
Media members from across the state spent weeks refining the top 10s. As the playoffs begin, here is their last batch of the season.
Ahead of the Week 8 games, Centennial and Lakeville South moved into the upper echelon in Class 6A.
Lakeville South, Centennial and Rosemount rose to fill gaps that emerged when Minnetonka and Forest Lake lost for the first time Friday.
Class 6A’s Maple Grove stands alone as a unanimous top pick in the seven football classes.
Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Forest Lake and Lakeville South hold the top four spots. Chaska and Fergus Falls exited after losing last week. And Bemidji’s tough luck continued.
The seven top-10s got shaken up, but there’s nothing shaky about the No. 1 teams.
The list begins with a handful of undefeated squads still left out — Kasson-Mantorville, Minneapolis North, North Branch, Waseca and Albert Lea — but angling for more attention.
No. 8 Andover pulled out a victory over Anoka when it scored with 12 seconds to play in a game that included 123 points. Ranked teams Eden Prairie, Moorhead, Chaska, Hermantown and Mankato East lost.
The top teams in the other classes stayed put in this week’s class-by-class polls.
