A football player with wide-ranging skills, runners who didn’t get caught, soccer players who don’t get stopped, a fast swimmer and a hard hitter are among them.

The Trojans defeated Eagan 5-0 and Edina beat East Ridge 3-1 in the Class 3A semifinals Tuesday at U.S. Bank Stadium to move on to Friday’s title game. Holy Angels and Mahtomedi will meet in the 2A final; Southwest Christian and Providence Academy square off in the 1A championship game.

Many of the state’s top-ranked boys and girls soccer teams have a common trait — they each have multiple players that can carry the scoring load.
