Marshall remains No. 1 in the ranking, but Strib Varsity writer Marcus Fuller has different teams in nine of the top 10 spots.

Marshall, Chanhassen and the Lakeville schools, all squads that have been No. 1 in their class this season, hold the top four spots.

Chanhassen is the new No. 1, ahead of Lakeville North and Lakeville South, while the No. 1 teams in Class 3A, 2A and 1A remain the same.

Marshall won its Southwest Minnesota Challenge last weekend, catapulting the Tigers into the No. 1 position.

Lakeville North replaces rival at No. 1 in Class 4A, while Marshall (3A), Hawley (2A) and Minneota (1A) hold steady in the coaches poll released Sept. 7.

Lakeville South (Class 4A), Marshall (3A), Hawley (2A) and Minneota (1A) retained the top spots in the statewide coaches poll released Aug. 31.

The list starts with defending Class 4A champion Lakeville South, moves to school district rival Lakeville North and then hits the rest of the state.

The Mayer Lutheran Crusaders played in the state final for the fourth year in a row and won the school’s fifth title.

Alexandria sank undefeated Delano in the semifinals. Mayer Lutheran won its 1A semifinal to head to its fourth consecutive state title game. In Class 2A, Hawley and Southwest Christian pulled off upsets.
