Now that the state tournament has concluded, here’s where Minnesota’s best teams fall in line according to writer Ron Haggstrom.
Wayzata will take on Cretin-Derham Hall in 4A, and Alexandria will play Mankato East in 3A.
The Raiders topped Maple Grove after producing just 15 points in the first half, and the Trojans sunk Shakopee with a second-half rally.
Class 4A’s higher seeds all won, though Wayzata was tested by Moorhead, and Classes 3A and 2A also went according to form.
Also, Hopkins sophomore Erma Walker plays a part in girls basketball state history.
Longtime Star Tribune sportswriter Ron Haggstrom forecasts which teams will advance to the semifinals and championship games, including the eventual tournament winners in all four classes.
Going into the state tournament, here’s where Minnesota’s best teams fall in line.
Mankato East was awarded the top seed in the tough 3A bracket. The 2025 tournament is spread over two sites, Target Center and Williams Arena.
The brackets will be revealed at 10 a.m. Saturday via stream, and quarterfinals will begin Tuesday.
The Top 25 shifted this week as teams are eliminated in section tournament play.
The top 10 finalists for this year’s Mr. Basketball were announced March 2, but a few players on the list could get knocked out in sections — as soon as this weekend.
