Two teams, Tartan and Wayzata, have been playing a game of tug-of-war for the No. 1 ranking in the state.
The NCAA’s regular signing period began Wednesday, and dozens of high school senior athletes across Minnesota will make verbal offers from Division I and Division II colleges official by signing financial and athletic aid documents.
The Benson Braves, making their first appearance in the polls this season, are one of four undefeated teams in Class 1A. The other three teams hold the top three spots in the poll.
Maple Grove boys basketball has ability to move up the state rankings with junior guard Baboucarr Ann, who is coming off a 47-point performance in a win against Eden Prairie, the highest scoring game in Maple Grove history.
Midway through the season, a handful of boys basketball players have become valuable pieces for their teams.
Basketball Across Minnesota: The Buffalo boys team is fueled by talented underclassmen. The Bison have already surpassed their number of wins from last season.
Five teams are ranked this week after not making the previous Minnesota Boys Basketball Coaches Association top 10 poll.
In Class 3A, the No. 1-ranked position has switched between Richfield and Totino-Grace.
Wayzata, the top-ranked team in the state among all classifications, ranks No. 1 in Class 4A. Totino-Grace is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.
At the Breakdown Big Stage at Hopkins, seven of the 14 teams scheduled to compete in the event ranked in the latest Strib Varsity Minnesota Top 25 ranking.
Many of the state’s best teams were eliminated in section tournaments. Other programs enter the final ranking of the season after qualifying for the state tournament.
