Alexandria and Dawson-Boyd, teams that won state championships last season, remain in the state polls, but are not ranked high.
Several schools entered the boys basketball statewide coaches poll. There’s also a new No. 1 in Class 2A.
In the largest-schools classification, both Eagan and Hopkins moved more than two spots in Class 4A.
Wayzata, the top-ranked team in the state among all classifications, ranks No. 1 in Class 4A. Totino-Grace is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.
Schlagel coached the Huskies to two Class 2A state titles over the last three seasons.
Now that the state tournament has concluded, here’s where Minnesota’s best teams fall in line according to writer Ron Haggstrom.
Waseca tied the game in the second half, but All-Minnesota standouts Zeke Austin and Sam Hondl pushed back for Albany.
Alexandria won the Class 3A title, Albany won 2A and Dawson-Boyd took 1A. The 4A final remains.
Albany turned away Caledonia and Waseca held off Breck in the semifinals.
Cherry and Dawson-Boyd advanced to the 1A final, and Albany and Waseca reached the 2A semifinal title game.
