Strib Varsity selected the state’s top 25 boys basketball players from the 2025-26 season across all four classifications based on statistics and impact on teams.
Five teams are ranked this week after not making the previous Minnesota Boys Basketball Coaches Association top 10 poll.
In Class 3A, the No. 1-ranked position has switched between Richfield and Totino-Grace.
Along with Tartan and Wayzata swapping the top two spots, Buffalo jumped up from No. 7 to No. 5.
Following Wayzata’s loss to Maple Grove, another team had the chance to claim the top spot in the statewide rankings.
Alexandria and Dawson-Boyd, teams that won state championships last season, remain in the state polls, but are not ranked high.
Check out which Minnesota programs are on the rise: Several teams make their debut in the first Strib Varsity ranking of 2026.
Several schools entered the boys basketball statewide coaches poll. There’s also a new No. 1 in Class 2A.
In the largest-schools classification, both Eagan and Hopkins moved more than two spots in Class 4A.
Half of the teams placed in the top 10 of this week’s ranking have already lost one game through mid December.
Wayzata, the top-ranked team in the state among all classifications, ranks No. 1 in Class 4A. Totino-Grace is ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.
