Class 4A’s top contenders begin their toughest stretch of games and are scheduled to face off against each other in the coming weeks
Undefeated Skippers overtake Hopkins as the top-voted team in the largest-school classification.
Of the four classifications, Class 2A had the most movement with four teams moving two spots or more in the coaches poll.
With one loss, Rochester Mayo steadily moved up in the Minnesota Girls Basketball Head Coaches Association poll.
Orono senior Mya Moore, a Creighton recruit, scored a combined 44 points in wins over Lakeville North (73-48) and Delano (79-46).
Class 3A had the most newcomers to the list with Delano and Fergus Falls joining the top 10 at No. 9 and No. 10.
As December wins add up, so does Monticello’s confidence and experience against tougher teams.
The most notable dips came in Class 2A, but other teams dropped, or moved up, in 4A, 3A and 1A as well.
The top 10 shifted somewhat, with Maple Grove and Eastview rising in the statewide, all-classification ranking.
Byron was only other team to move up more than one spot, climbing from No. 10 to No. 8 in Class 3A.
Expect these rankings to look dramatically different this time next week when section champions are decided.
