Standing in the way could be a Benilde-St. Margaret’s program seeking its fourth consecutive Class 3A basketball championship.
The No. 1 programs held their ground, but not much else stayed the same as in the preseason.
A sweep of Prior Lake settled matters in the big class. Benilde-St. Margaret’s couldn’t stop a juggernaut in the other night final.
Lakeville South in Class 4A, Hawley in 2A and Mayer Lutheran in 1A went back-to-back. Marshall won 3A for its 10th title.
It will be Prior Lake vs. Lakeville South in 4A, Marshall vs. Benilde-St. Margaret’s in 3A, Hawley vs. Chatfield in 2A and Mayer Lutheran vs. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in 1A.
Seventh seed Apple Valley upset East Ridge, joining Lakeville South, Roseville and Prior Lake in the 4A semis. Marshall, Cretin-Derham Hall, Benilde-St. Margaret’s and Stewartville advanced in 3A.
