Basketball Across Minnesota: Remembering the best high school players from Minnesota — regardless of gender — from the last 25 years.
Orono senior Mya Moore, a Creighton recruit, scored a combined 44 points in wins over Lakeville North (73-48) and Delano (79-46).
Class 3A had the most newcomers to the list with Delano and Fergus Falls joining the top 10 at No. 9 and No. 10.
As December wins add up, so does Monticello’s confidence and experience against tougher teams.
The most notable dips came in Class 2A, but other teams dropped, or moved up, in 4A, 3A and 1A as well.
The top 10 shifted somewhat, with Maple Grove and Eastview rising in the statewide, all-classification ranking.
The Strictly x Strib Varsity Tour, the centerpiece of a new partnership with Strictly Bball, kicks off Thursday and will feature 20 of Minnesota’s top basketball teams.
Byron was only other team to move up more than one spot, climbing from No. 10 to No. 8 in Class 3A.
Defending Class 4A champion Hopkins retained the top spot, but other teams moved around based on early-season impressions.
The No. 1 programs held their ground, but not much else stayed the same as in the preseason.
Defending Class 4A state champion Hopkins defeated Wayzata 78-59 while Benilde-St. Margaret’s, the defending 3A state champion, beat Orono 77-66.
